Borland SilkTest 2008屬於軟體功能測試工具，是Borland公司所提出軟體質量管理解決方案
的套件之一。這個工具採用精靈設定與自動化執行測試，無論是程式設計新手或資深的專家都
能快速建立功能測試，並分析功能錯誤。SilkTest最初由Segue Software公司開發，該公司於
2006年被Borland公司收購，而Borland公司則是在2009年由英國軟體商MicroFocus宣佈以7500
萬美元現金收購，目前該收購已完成，自此SilkTest始歸入MicroFocus名下。
SilkTest 2008包括2個核心元件，分別是SilkTest Integrated Development Environment
（IDE）與SilkTest Agent（代理程式）。SilkTest IDE的可視化使用者介面，讓測試人員可
以針對指令碼、架構與測試計劃等，快速開發、編輯、編譯、執行、分析，以及除錯；
而SilkTest代理程式會將4Test script中的指令轉譯成可視化的指令，並負責驅動與監視整個

SilkTest 2008為程式設計師提供2種測試流程：基本流程（Basic）與數據驅動流程
（Data Driven）。基本流程用於由無到有建立一個測試流程，通常是軟體開發時新增功能的
驗證。 數據驅動流程則是從現有的測試案例中，藉由記錄、數據導向的精靈，讓新手不需編
寫程式代碼就可建立並自訂測試，只要修改原來測試案例中的參數即可。
